Dr. Lee Yancey served as Pastor of Bay Springs Baptist Church in Jasper County from 2013-2018 and has served as an investment advisor with Woodridge Capital/Element Wealth in Ridgeland since 2008.

Formerly, Yancey was elected to the State Senate serving the 20th district which was comprised of approximately 75,000 people in portions of Madison and Rankin Counties. Lee served as Vice Chairman of the Highways and Transportation Committee and as a member of the following committees: Code, Drug Policy, Education, Ethics, Finance, Insurance, Judiciary A, and Public Health and Welfare.


Yancey received A ratings (Business Champion) all four years from BIPEC, the Key to the City of Flowood in 2009, and was a Charter member of the Mississippi National Guard Legislative Caucus. In 2013, Gov. Phil Bryant appointed Yancey to a five year term on the Mississippi State Personnel Board where he served as Chairman of the Board from 2017-2018.

Prior to his election to the Mississippi Senate, Yancey served as Senior Consultant for the Christian Action Commission of the Mississippi Baptist Convention. He was chosen as the 2006 co-Pro-Lifer of the Year for his efforts to get the Choose Life car tag passed through the legislature. Yancey authored three youth ministry curricula and wrote frequent articles for the Baptist Record newspaper.

He earned a B.A. in Religion from Mississippi College in 1991, a Master of Divinity (1993) and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Leadership Administration from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (2003). He has a Series 65 Investment License and Accident, Health or Sickness, and Life Insurance License. He has been married to his wife Courtney for 26 years and they have two adult children, Benton and Blakeley.

Yancey has run six marathons and coached marathon training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (2003-2004) and Marathon Makeover (2010). He is also an avid golfer and member of Castlewoods Country Club. The Yancey family has lived in the Castlewoods subdivision since 2001.

Lee has been a member of the Flowood Rotary Club and served as President in 2012 and 2013. He is a Paul Harris Fellow. He is also a former member of the Rankin County Republican Executive Committee (2002-2006, 2012-2013). The Yancey family are members at Pinelake Church in Flowood.
